Important Days

  1. World Vegan Day is observed on 1st November.

Note:

➢   The Day provides an opportunity to promote the benefits of a vegan diet and veganism in general.

➢   On the Day, vegan groups and practitioners organize workshops to highlight the importance of animal rights.

➢   Donald Watson coined the term Vegan which was derived from the word Vegetarian in 1944.

 

  1. The International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists is a UN-recognized day observed annually on 2nd

November. Note:

➢   This year’s International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists is focused on local journalists.

  1. The World Tsunami Awareness Day (WTAD) is being observed across the world on 5th November.

Note:

➢   In 2019, the World Tsunami Awareness Day will promote Target (d) of the “Sendai Seven Campaign” which focuses on reducing disaster damage to critical infrastructure and disruption of basic services.

➢   By the year 2030, an estimated 50% of the world’s population will live in coastal areas exposed to flooding, storms, and tsunamis.

  1. The International Day for Preventing the Exploitation of the Environment in War and Armed Conflict is observed annually on 6th November.
