Asia’s first fifth-generation, virtual reality-based advanced driver training simulator centre inaugurated in Chennai. AASI will train 200 ambulance drivers free of cost, under the ‘Safe Drivers Campaign’.

1. IIT Madras finds an eco-friendly way to degrade plastics
The researchers used a magnetic stirrer coated with Teflon to continuously stir for several days the water mixed with glucose in a glass beaker containing a gold foil, found tiny fragments with bright red luminescence floating on the surface.
2. Plastic ban: Andhra Pradesh to impose green tax
Andhra Pradesh government decided to impose a green tax besides banning single-use plastic. To keep a check on pollution by industrial houses, the state will collect the green tax. CM Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy announced the decisions.

1. One tea bag can release 11.6 billion microplastics into our cup: McGill University
The study, by researchers from McGill University in Montreal, showed that a single plastic teabag can release harmful particles into your cup —11.6 billion microplastics and 3.1 billion nanoplastics.Microplastics are those plastics less than 5 mm in size.
2. IPCC Meet on Climate Change begins in New Delhi
India is hosting 2nd Lead Author Meeting of Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)Working Group III 6th Assessment Report at New Delhi.
