1. Rajnath Singh commissions newly built submarine INS Khanderi

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh commissioned the newly built Scorpene-class submarine INS Khanderi. The submarine was handed over to the Navy by Mazgaon Dockyard Ltd. It is the 2nd of the project 75 submarine built at MDL.

2. India to achieve 26 bn dollars Defence Industry by 2025: Rajnath Singh

Defence minister Rajnath Singh stated that India will achieve 26 Billion dollars Defence Industry by 2025. Defence sector has been identified as one of the most prominent sectors under Make in India initiative to realize 5 trillion-dollar Economy by 2024

3. Indian successfully flight-tested indigenous air-to-air missile Astra

Indian Air Force has flight-tested air-to-air missile Astra off the coast of Odisha. It was launched from a Sukhoi Su-30 MKI combat aircraft as a part of User trials. It was tracked using radars, electro-optical tracking sensors & struck its target.

4. DRDO successfully flight-tests indigenously developed MPATGM

Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully flight tested indigenously developed low weight, fire and forget Man Portable Antitank Guided Missile (MPATGM) in the ranges of Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh.

5. Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders delivers 2nd Scorpene submarine

“KHANDERI”

Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd delivered 2nd Scorpene submarine ‘KHANDERI’ to Indian Navy at an event held in Mumbai. It is named after the wide snouted Saw fish, a deadly sea predator of the Indian Ocean. 1st Khanderi was commissioned into Navy in 1968.

6. India to receive first of 36 Rafale fighter jets from France on Oct 8

India is set to receive the first of 36 Rafale fighter jets in Paris on October 8(foundation day of IAF). India signed an inter-governmental agreement with France in 2016 for procurement of 36 Rafale fighter jets at a cost of around Rs 58,000 crore.

7. ISRO, DRDO sign MoUs for Gaganyaan mission

ISRO inked MoUs with DRDO for development of human-centric systems for the Gaganyaan project. Space food, space crew health monitoring & emergency survival kit, radiation measurement & protection, parachutes for safe recovery are to be provided by DRDO.
